How to enter:

Find ideas on how you can raise awareness in your community.

Tell GPDA what you did to raise awareness. You may write a single-page story, or create a pictoral story with photos of your activities.

Send your entry to GPDA via email or snail mail.

You must submit your entry by June 30, 2006. One Canadian and one American winner will be chosen by our selection committee--GPDA editor, Elizabeeth Gooden; GPDA artist, Jennifer Young; and GPDA board member, Jacquie Brezovski.

Each of our two winners will be contacted via phone and/or email. GPDA will arrange with each winner to contact his/her store of choice. A gift certificate will be purchased by GPDA on behalf of each winner, and they will pick up the gift certificates from their selected stores.

Rules:

You must be a member of GPDA or GPDA-USA to enter. (Members are those who currently receive our newsletter and have paid their annual dues, or have requested dues be waived, and include those individuals who have donated time to our association. Membership is outlined in our bylaws.)

GPDA or GPDA-USA board members and their relatives, as well as members of the selection committee and their relatives, are not eligible to enter.

Submission of materials to GPDA or GPDA-USA means you have granted permission to GPDA and GPDA-USA to use your materials on our website, or in promotional/educational materials generated by our non-profit associations. Materials become the property of GPDA and GPDA-USA, and will not be released to any other third parties.

Before written stories are placed into the public domain by GPDA, some editing of stories may be done for clarity and to protect the confidentiality of non-contestants.

The onus is on the contestant, or their agents, to inform and receive permission from those they photograph for the possible use of their image by our non-profit association.

Use of any image will be restricted to placement on the GPDA website and/or in promotional/educational materials produced by GPDA and GPDA-USA. Editing of pictures may be done by GPDA for artistic reasons or to fit into a graphic format.

Any minors who have been photographed need to have written parental permission before GPDA and GPDA-USA can accept the image. Permission may be granted by a parent or legal guardian, and may be faxed, mailed, or e-mailed to GPDA or GPDA-USA.

Minors (under the age of 18) who wish to enter the contest must have written parental consent before GPDA or GPDA-USA will accept the entry.
